DANCE FOR SALE

A dance project by Grupo Oito

After several attempts with various projects my solo project "Register" finally received funding in 2009. Unfortunately the cultural departments of the districts Pankow and Prenzlauer Berg then went bust and the money for my project was cut. I was forced to find other ways and means, after all: The show must go on… Many questions arose in this process, one of them particularly stubborn: "What does one dance cost?" Ricardo de Paula

Dance for Sale attempts to find an answer to this question and puts a focus on art as business by thematising dance as a "product".

In its dance projects, Grupo Oito has been examining the relationship between individual and society since 2006. Their point of reference is "identities", their inspiration comes from every-day life.

Dance for Sale continues the cooperation between Ballhaus Naunynstraße and Wagner Carvalho, curator and initiator of project in/out. The new platform focuses on the search for new ways of story-telling and expression emerging outside of the norms of the arts scene and widening the repertoire of images.
